Parked on site, flying its round on its own

A weatherproof box you bolt down on site. The drone lives in it, charges in it and flies its route on a schedule with nobody there. For fence lines, dams, solar installations and anything that needs looking at on the same round, every day.

How it works

01

Lives outside

  • IP56 rated against dust and water
  • Runs from -30C to 50C, aircraft from -20C to 50C
  • Takes standard 100 to 240V mains
  • 55 kg without the aircraft
02

Turns itself around fast

  • 15 percent to 95 percent charge in 27 minutes
  • More than 4 hours on the backup battery if the power goes
  • Lands in winds up to 12 m/s
03

Covers the ground

  • Up to 10 km operating radius
  • Works up to 4500 m altitude
  • Pairs with the Matrice 4D and 4TD dock aircraft

What it is for

01

Security

  • Scheduled perimeter and fence line patrols
  • Night patrols with no operator on site
  • Response flights on demand
02

Inspection

  • Solar installations
  • Dams, reservoirs and pump stations
  • Powerlines and infrastructure on a fixed round
03

Land and crop

  • The same route flown the same way every time
  • Change over a season is easy to see when the flight path never varies

Common questions

Questions we get asked

What does the DJI Dock 3 do?

It flies the drone for you on a schedule. The aircraft lives in the dock, launches on a set route, lands and recharges to 95 percent in about 27 minutes, all without a pilot standing in the field. It works within a 10 km operating radius.

What is the Dock 3 used for on a farm or site?

Repeat missions: perimeter and security patrols, infrastructure inspection and regular crop or site surveys, where the value is in flying the same route reliably rather than sending someone out each time.

Does the Dock 3 work in bad weather?

It carries an IP56 weather rating and operates down to -30 degrees C, with a four-hour backup battery so it keeps running through a power cut.

Do I still need a licensed pilot with a Dock 3?

Yes. Automated flight does not remove the regulatory requirement. Commercial operations still need SACAA licensing, and beyond-visual-line-of-sight work has its own approvals. This is exactly the kind of setup our compliance service exists for.
